Dr Lindsay Taylor is the founder of Lindsay Taylor Lawyers.

Lindsay is one of the leading planning, environment and local government lawyers in New South Wales with 25 years' specialist practice experience.

During his career, Lindsay has worked within the legal branch of the Department of Planning and as in house solicitor for 2 metropolitan Sydney Councils. He has also spent 10 years as a partner in one of Australia's leading law firms, and was the transnational director of that firm's Planning, Environment and Local Government Law practice.

Lindsay has extensive experience in planning and development law. He acts for a broad range of public and private sector clients on a range of matters, including major land release and development projects. He has unique expertise and experience relating to development contributions, planning agreements, and climate change and ecologically sustainable development.

Lindsay holds a PhD in law and economics from Macquarie University for a thesis which analysed the system of development contributions in New South Wales.

Lindsay is an experienced local government lawyer. He acts for numerous metropolitan, regional, rural and coastal councils in New South Wales. He acts for councils in all matters affecting local government, particularly in relation to the functions of councils, probity, governance and administration issues, including probity auditing and reviews of council decisions, policies and systems, tendering and procurement, planning and development, and the environment and ecologically sustainable development. Lindsay is particularly experienced in providing advice to the general managers and senior staff of Councils and in providing training to Councillors and Council staff members on important matters affecting local government.

Lindsay has been widely published in refereed journals and is author and a regular speaker at industry conferences. He is an author and editorial board member of the Local Government Planning and Environment Loose-leaf Service, published by Butterworths. He is a joint author of the chapter entitled 'Development' in the Environmental Law Handbook published by the Redfern Legal Publishing Service.

Lindsay was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW in 1985 and the High Court of Australia in 1998.
