Changed status for the (former) Deparment of Planning and Infrastructure
From 24 February 2014, the former Department of Planning and Infrastructure (DoPI) is known as ‘Planning and Infrastructure’ in accordance with the Government Sector Employment Act 2013 (GSE Act).
Under the GSE Act, public service employees are employed by:
- ‘Departments’,
- ‘Public Service executive agencies related to Departments’, or
- ‘Public Service agencies’.
The former DoPI is now characterised as a ‘public service executive agency related to a Department’, with the new title of ‘Planning and Infrastructure’. It is therefore no longer a ‘Department’.
The ‘related Department‘ is the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The head of Planning and Infrastructure will be the Director-General.
The ‘employer functions’ of the NSW Government in respect of the Director-General will be exercised by the Premier.
The ‘employer functions’ of the NSW Government in respect of the Public Service senior executives in Planning and Infrastructure will be the Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Director-General of Planning and Infrastructure will exercise the ‘employer functions’ of the NSW Government in respect of employees of Planning and Infrastructure.
