Correction to Earlier Blog – Swimming Pools Act: Deadline Postponed

On 1 April 2014 I published a blog Swimming Pools Act: The Deadline Postponed.  The blog advised that Councils had another 12 months in which to implement their inspection program and to establish their mandatory program of review of tourist, visitor and multi occupancy property swimming facilities.

This was incorrect.  The Division of Local Government Circular to which the blog refers relates only to the extension of the deadline for swimming pool owners to have certificates of compliance for their pools prior to selling or leasing their properties.

Changes to the Residential Tenancies Regulation 2010 which will require a landlord to provide a certificate of compliance under the Swimming Pools Act 1992 to a prospective tenant, and to  the Conveyancing (Sale of Land) Regulation 2010  which will require a vendor to provide a certificate to a purchaser under a contract for sale of land, will now not commence until 29 April 2015.

There are no other changes to the swimming pools legislation currently proposed.

I have corrected the earlier blog, and apologise for the error and any confusion caused.
