Public exhibition of proposed changes to the Exempt and Complying Development SEPP
The NSW Government’s proposed amendments to the State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Development) 2008 (Exempt and Complying Development SEPP) are open to community comment with the public exhibition and submission period commencing 19 October 2015.
Over 60 individual amendments have been proposed to the Exempt and Complying Development SEPP.
The objectives of the proposed changes are listed on the website of the Department of Planning & Environment as follows:
- to clarify existing defined terms,
- to refine clauses to ensure they achieve the policy’s intent,
- to clarify the policy’s intent in the case of minor inconsistencies,
- to correct minor clause references and drafting errors.

A draft version of the amending Exempt and Complying Development SEPP is set to be released shortly.
